Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective date: 23 October 2026
This policy applies to roofing and guttering installation services supplied in London by:
Archippe Rene Pedro Makufi trading as Chippy Roof Gutters (trading as Chippy Roof Gutters) 5 Water Lane, Twickenham, London, TW1 3NP Email: admin@chippyguttersgutters.co.uk
It applies to consumers and, where relevant, business customers. Consumer rights described below apply to customers acting mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Your statutory cancellation right
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers generally have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel a service contract without giving a reason.
You can cancel by emailing admin@chippyguttersgutters.co.uk or writing to the address above. Please include your name, address, details of the service and a clear statement that you wish to cancel. You may use wording such as:
> I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of roofing and guttering services.
You may also contact us using any other clear written communication that shows your decision to cancel.
Starting work during the cancellation period
If you ask us to start work before the 14-day cancellation period ends, we will ask for your express request to do so.
If you cancel after work has started, you must pay a proportionate amount for the work properly supplied up to the time you tell us that you are cancelling. This amount will reflect the proportion of the service provided compared with the full contract price.
If the service has been fully completed during the 14-day period at your express request, and you acknowledged that you would lose your cancellation right once the service was fully performed, you may no longer have a statutory right to cancel.
These statutory rights do not affect any other rights you may have because of faulty or unsatisfactory work.
Deposits and payments
Any deposit paid will be treated as part payment towards the agreed service unless the contract states otherwise.
If you cancel within the statutory cancellation period before work has started, we will refund the deposit, subject to any lawful deduction for work carried out at your express request or other sums that the law permits us to retain.
A deposit will not be retained as a penalty. Any amount retained will reflect work properly carried out, costs that the law allows us to recover, or equipment ordered specifically to your requirements where the law does not require us to refund that amount.
Equipment ordered to your specification
If equipment or materials have already been ordered specifically to your measurements, requirements or specifications, cancellation may not result in a full refund where the law permits a charge for those items.
We will explain any relevant charge and will not charge more than is reasonably permitted. This does not affect your statutory rights in relation to faulty, misdescribed or unsuitable goods, or any other rights you have under applicable law.
Refunds
Where you are entitled to a refund, we will make it without undue delay and normally within 14 days after:
- the day we receive your cancellation notice, where no goods need to be returned;
- the day we receive any goods returned by you; or
- the day you provide evidence that goods have been sent back,
whichever is earliest, where applicable.
We may withhold a refund until goods have been returned or you have provided evidence that they have been sent back. Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method, unless we agree another method with you. You will not be charged a fee for receiving a refund.
Faulty or poor workmanship
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill.
If our workmanship is faulty or the service does not meet the contract, please contact us as soon as possible. We will normally be given the opportunity to inspect and repair or put right the defective work first, without charge and within a reasonable time.
If repair or repeat performance is impossible, cannot be completed within a reasonable time, or would cause you significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund. Any refund or price reduction will take account of the use you have already had where the law permits this.
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights.
Business customers
Where you are buying for a business, the statutory consumer cancellation rights may not apply. Your cancellation, payment and refund rights will instead be those agreed in your contract, subject to applicable law.
We will still deal with complaints about defective workmanship or failure to provide the agreed service fairly and in accordance with the contract and applicable law.
