Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-23
About us
These terms apply to roofing and guttering installation services in London supplied by Archippe Rene Pedro Makufi trading as Chippy Roof Gutters (trading as Chippy Roof Gutters).
Our address is:
5 Water Lane Twickenham London TW1 3NP
You can contact us at admin@chippyguttersgutters.co.uk.
These terms apply to services booked on or after 23 October 2026, unless we agree different written terms with you.
Quotes and site surveys
We may provide a quote following a discussion, photographs, measurements or a site survey. A quote will describe the proposed work and its price, including VAT where applicable.
A quote is based on the information reasonably available to us at the time. If a site survey or the work reveals concealed damage, unsafe conditions, unsuitable existing materials or additional work that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand, we will explain the issue and any additional cost before carrying out that additional work.
A quote is not a binding contract until we have accepted your booking. Unless the quote states otherwise, it is valid for the period stated in it. If no period is stated, we may withdraw or revise it before accepting your booking.
How a booking is formed
A contract is formed when:
- you accept our quote or otherwise agree to proceed;
- we confirm the booking; and
- any required deposit has been paid or other agreed booking condition has been met.
The contract consists of these terms, the accepted quote and any other written terms we expressly agree with you.
We may decline a booking where the proposed work is unsuitable, unsafe, outside our services or cannot reasonably be scheduled.
Prices and payment
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). The price payable is the price in the accepted quote, subject to any agreed changes or additional work.
Unless the quote states otherwise:
- the price includes the installation work and materials specifically described in the quote;
- the price includes ordinary access and installation activities reasonably required for that described work;
- the price does not include additional work, specialist access equipment, repairs to concealed damage, building or planning fees, or work made necessary by inaccurate information supplied by you; and
- any additional work will be discussed and agreed with you before it is carried out, except where urgent work is reasonably necessary to make the site safe.
If a deposit is required, the amount and payment date will be stated in the quote or booking confirmation. A booking may not be secured until the required deposit has been paid.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the remaining balance is payable when the work is completed. You must pay invoices by the payment method and date stated on the invoice. If you dispute part of an invoice, you must tell us promptly and pay any undisputed amount by the due date.
Your responsibilities
You must:
- provide accurate information about the property and the work required;
- provide safe and reasonable access to the property, roof, gutters and relevant working areas at the agreed times;
- ensure that someone responsible can provide access where necessary;
- tell us about known hazards, fragile surfaces, asbestos, concealed services and any restrictions affecting the work;
- provide access to a suitable electricity and water supply where reasonably required for the agreed work, unless we agree another arrangement;
- obtain any permissions, consents, landlord approvals, freeholder approvals, planning permissions, building regulations approvals or other permissions that are your responsibility;
- obtain permission to carry out work on shared, neighbouring or rented property where required; and
- remove or protect personal belongings and items that may be affected by the work.
You must not ask us to carry out work that would be unlawful or unsafe. We may suspend or rearrange work if access, permissions, information, power, weather or site conditions make it unsafe or impractical.
You are responsible for damage or delay caused by inaccurate information, lack of access, missing permissions or failure to meet these responsibilities, except to the extent caused by our failure to take reasonable care.
Scheduling, weather and delays
We will agree an estimated start date or time window with you. Unless we expressly agree a fixed date, any date or time given is an estimate.
Roofing and guttering work may be affected by weather, safety conditions, material availability, access problems, hidden defects and events outside our reasonable control. If work is delayed, we will seek to notify you and arrange a revised date as soon as reasonably practicable.
If we need to cancel or significantly rearrange an appointment, we will offer a reasonable alternative date. If the delay is substantial and you no longer wish to proceed, your statutory rights may allow you to end the contract and receive a refund for services not supplied.
Changes and additional work
You may ask to change the agreed work. We will confirm whether the change is possible and tell you about any resulting change to the price or schedule.
We will not carry out additional chargeable work without your agreement, unless urgent work is reasonably required to prevent immediate damage or to make the property safe. Where urgent work is required, we will explain what is needed and the likely cost as soon as reasonably practicable.
Consumer cancellation rights
This section applies if you are a consumer, meaning an individual acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft or profession.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you generally have a 14-day right to cancel a contract for services made at a distance or away from our business premises. The cancellation period normally ends 14 days after the day the contract is formed.
You may cancel by sending a clear statement to admin@chippyguttersgutters.co.uk. You may use any wording, provided it clearly tells us that you wish to cancel.
If you cancel within the cancellation period:
- we will refund payments due to you without undue delay and normally within 14 days of receiving your cancellation;
- where applicable, we may withhold a proportionate amount for services properly supplied before cancellation; and
- we will use the same payment method you used, unless we agree otherwise.
If you expressly ask us to start the service before the end of the 14-day cancellation period, you must pay for the part of the service properly carried out up to the time you cancel. If the service is fully performed during the cancellation period following your express request and acknowledgement that you would lose your cancellation right once the service was fully performed, you may lose the right to cancel.
The statutory cancellation right does not affect other rights you may have where work is faulty, incomplete or not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Cancellation by you after the cancellation period
If you cancel after the statutory cancellation period, any cancellation or deposit terms stated in your quote or booking confirmation will apply.
If no specific cancellation terms have been agreed, we may recover reasonable costs already incurred for materials, labour, preparation or appointments that cannot reasonably be reused or rescheduled. We will take reasonable steps to limit those costs.
Cancellation or suspension by us
We may cancel or suspend the work if:
- the site is unsafe or inaccessible;
- required permissions have not been obtained;
- you have not paid an amount due;
- you ask us to carry out unlawful or unsafe work;
- circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent the work; or
- the information provided by you was materially inaccurate or incomplete.
If we cancel without a valid reason arising from your actions or circumstances outside our reasonable control, we will refund any payment for services that we have not supplied.
Workmanship and defects
We will carry out the services with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Please inspect the work when reasonably possible and tell us promptly about any concern. We will investigate reported defects and, where we are responsible, will normally repair or rectify defective workmanship within a reasonable time and without charge.
Your statutory rights are not affected by these terms. Depending on the circumstances, you may also have rights to repeat performance or a price reduction under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We are not responsible for defects or damage caused by:
- existing structural or material defects;
- normal wear and tear;
- poor maintenance or misuse;
- alterations or repairs carried out by someone else;
- conditions outside the agreed scope of work; or
- information, access or materials supplied by you.
Materials and manufacturer warranties
Where equipment or materials supplied by us carry a manufacturer’s warranty, we will pass the benefit of that warranty to you where we are able to do so. The manufacturer’s warranty will be subject to its own terms, exclusions and claims process.
A manufacturer’s warranty does not replace your statutory rights against us or our responsibility for defective workmanship.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- breach of your statutory rights as a consumer;
- anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the above, we are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or negligence. We are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed, or for business losses suffered by a consumer acting outside a business context.
If you are acting in the course of a business, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these terms requires you to accept defective work or prevents you from exercising rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable law.
Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us as soon as possible at admin@chippyguttersgutters.co.uk, explaining the problem and providing relevant photographs or documents where helpful.
We will review the complaint and seek to resolve it fairly and within a reasonable time. You should give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, put right any defective work before arranging remedial work through someone else, except where urgent action is reasonably necessary to prevent further damage or risk.

Business customers
If you are acting for a business, you confirm that you have authority to enter into the contract on its behalf.
The consumer-specific cancellation provisions in these terms do not apply to business customers unless we expressly agree otherwise. Business customers remain responsible for providing suitable access, permissions, information and payment.
Events outside our reasonable control
We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, flooding, fire, industrial disputes, supply disruption, transport disruption, power failure, government action, serious site safety issues or other circumstances that could not reasonably have been prevented.
We will take reasonable steps to notify you and reduce the effects of such an event. If it continues for an extended period, either party may discuss ending the affected contract.
General
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
A failure or delay by either party in enforcing a right does not mean that the right has been waived.
No person other than a party to the contract may enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
These terms, the accepted quote and any agreed written changes form the agreement between you and us for the relevant services.
Governing law and courts
These terms and any contract between you and us are governed by the law of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in another part of the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live.
